Tetons Family Vacation

Grand Teton National Park is a very scenic National Park located in Wyoming. The highest mountain in the park is called Grand Teton and has several long climbing routes so that people can experience the summit.

But in terms of vacationing for the whole family, the park has a lot more to offer than that. The Grand Teton Mountain Range which is in the park is part of the Rocky Mountains.

If you decide to spend your family vacation in Grand Teton National Park it is a given that you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors. There are activities to do in the park year round but the summer is one of the most ideal times to visit.

The weather is warmer and there are opportunities to hike, camp, and view the wildlife. For those who are truly adventurous you can hike up Grand Teton which is the tallest mountain in the park.

One of the trails is around 5 miles and it should take all day to make the climb.You can also enjoy outdoor sports in the winter such as skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and cross country skiing.

In addition to taking part in outdoor sports, you can also use the opportunity to get to know the geography, the wildlife, and the different plants that make up the landscape in the park.

Once you arrive in the park you can stop in to the visitor’s center and get a listing of all of the programs they offer. Sometimes the rangers offer walks where they point out the notable features of the park and help you find wildlife and different plants.

Animals you may see while on your trip include wolves, coyotes, and black bears are amongst those animals that reside in the park. Keep in mind that if you want to go hiking, backpacking, or camping that you may need to register.

Registration is required if you intend to spend the night in the park during a backpacking expedition. For camping, it is a good idea to stick with the designated camping areas. In addition, the scenery in Grand Teton National Park is spectacular.

The snow capped mountains provide some great views. There is also a rather large valley, Jackson’s Hole, which defines part of the geography in the park and the contrast between the valley and the mountains is breathtaking.

If you have extra time you may also want to pay a visit to Yellowstone National Park which is also a popular destination for family vacations. Yellowstone is most known for their geysers and hot springs but the scenery in that park is also spectacular.

Grand Teton National Park makes for a wonderful outdoor family vacation. For lodging you can either go camping or spend your time in a hotel. It all depends on what your family enjoys most.

 

No matter were you stay the main goal is to enjoy the outdoors by hiking, fishing, viewing the wildlife, and spending time looking at the views. This is surely a vacation your family will remember.
